Certification Requirements For Rhode Island

Responsible alcohol training is mandated by the state of Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation. Rhode Island liquor code, Regulation 8, Rule 43 states; "Persons who sell or serve alcoholic beverages, anyone whose job description entails the checking of identification used in connection with the pruchase of alcoholic beverages, and any valet parking working at an establishment that sells or serves alcoholic beverages, must receive alcohol server training from a server training program approved by the Department as set forth herein."

TIPS (T.I.P.S. - Training and Intervention Procedures for Servers of alcohol) Certification - TIPS Online alcohol certification was recently approved by the Rhode Island Licenst authority, for use in Rhode Island for servers of alcohol and those required under Rule 43. 

Responsibe alcohol training is mandatory for all servers of alcohol, security staff and valets (at alcohol establishments) in Rhode Island.

TIPS Alcohol Training Online is approved for use in Rhode Island. 

On Premise is for Bars, Restaurants, Hotels & Night Clubs.
Any Establishment That Serves Liquor by the Drink.
Bartenders, Servers Barbacks, Valets , Managers, Owners.

Certification Requirements for Massachusetts

Massachusetts TIPS Certification:
Responsible alcohol training is not mandated statewide by the
 Commonwealth of Massachusetts. However, some local cities and municipalities have made responsible beverage server training mandatory. In addition, many Massachusetts Insurance companies have made certification mandatory for the bars to purchase liquor liability insurance.

TIPS (T.I.P.S. - Training and Intervention Procedures for Servers of alcohol) Certification - If you've been told you must have your TIPS card to be hired at a liquor serving establishment, this is the training and card required.


 TIPS Alcohol Training Online is accepted statewide for use in Massachusetts with the exception of Westborough. Westborough accepts classroom training only.

On Premise is for Bars, Restaurants, Hotels & Night Clubs.
Any Establishment That Serves Liquor by the Drink.
Bartenders, Servers Barbacks, Valets , Managers, Owners.

Certification Requirements for Washington D.C.

Responsibe alcohol training is mandated by the District of Columbia. The District of Columbia's liquor code requires all managers of a licensed establishment to be certified in an alcohol training and education program that is conducted by a Board-approved provider.

All liquor license holders and their managers must complete an approved alcohol training and education program and submit proof of completion of the course with the Manager's License application to the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration (ABRA).

TIPS Alcohol Training Online is accepted for use in Washington DC. 

Certification Requirements for Utah

Every individual who sells or furnishes alcoholic beverages to the public in Utah, must complete an Alcoholic Beverage Server Training and Education Seminar if that person is furnishing the alcohol for consumption on the business premises.

Anyone who serves alcohol in the State of Utah should take this training and receive their certificaion. By Utah law, servers of alcohol must complete the training within 30 days of beginning employment.
